The short answer
Tema Port is Ghana's principal seaport and the gateway for most of the country's containerised imports, as well as transit cargo for Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger. 7AS Trust is headquartered in Community 2, Tema, and clears, hauls, stores and transits cargo from every Tema terminal.
What we do at Tema
- Customs clearance of containers, vehicles and break-bulk
- Ship agency and husbandry
- Haulage to anywhere in Ghana and bonded transit to the Sahel
- Warehousing and LCL deconsolidation nearby
- Vehicle clearance for RoRo and containerised cars
How clearance runs at Tema
Documents are reviewed during the voyage; the declaration is lodged on ICUMS once the manifest is available; duty is paid through designated banks; cargo selected for examination is scanned or physically inspected; the shipping line issues its release; and the container is gated out for delivery. With complete documents, two to four working days is typical.
Keeping costs down at Tema
- Send documents before the vessel arrives
- Know your free days on both terminal storage and the container
- Arrange trucks for the day of release, not after
- Strip and return containers promptly if goods will wait
