The short answer
Most delays at Ghanaian ports come from paperwork, not from ships. 7AS Trust prepares and files the documents imports and exports need: product permits from FDA, GSA and EPA, certificates of origin, export declarations, phytosanitary certificates and exemption applications, ideally before the cargo ships.
Import documents we handle
- Review of commercial invoice and packing list for consistency and classifiable descriptions
- FDA product registration and import permits (food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices)
- Ghana Standards Authority conformity requirements for regulated products
- EPA permits for chemicals and controlled substances
- Ministry and agency permits for restricted goods
- Exemption and relief applications
Export documents we handle
- Export declaration on ICUMS
- Certificate of origin, including ECOWAS and AfCFTA origin where eligible
- Phytosanitary certificates via the plant protection authority
- Commodity-specific approvals, for example for cocoa and timber products
- Bill of lading instructions and shipping documents
Get permits in before the cargo
Applying for a permit after the goods land means paying rent while you wait. Send us the product list at order stage and we will tell you which permits apply and how long they typically take.
The full list by product type is in our documents checklist.
